Founded in Bloomington in 1998
A lifelong Monroe County resident, Andy Koontz understood the value of earning the trust of his community. He founded the shop in 1998 with a commitment to honest service, customer education, and doing what was right for each driver. Fellow technician and friend Ted Kent joined him early on, helping establish the customer-focused approach that became central to the business. As its reputation grew, the shop moved to a larger Bloomington facility in 2003 to support continued growth and better serve local drivers. Word spread through the community about the quality of care, straightforward communication, and dependable workmanship. Andy continued building the business around those principles until his retirement in 2018.
Starting with humble roots Andy was joined immediately by fellow mechanic and friend Ted Kent. Andy and Ted's commitment to customer service, education, and honesty quickly made Advanced Auto Care outgrow its building. In 2003, Advanced found its new home in our current location. 1077 Air Drive might have lost its road frontage, but allowed for its growth. Word spread quickly about the level of care at Advanced and it steadily grew in size to its current proportions of six employees. Having a great business model allowed Advanced to enjoy its great customers for many years. While Andy loved building Advanced from the ground up, he decided it was time to retire in 2018.
A New Chapter Under Matt Bozarth
Matt Bozarth met Andy in 2005 after building experience on the parts side of the automotive industry. Having worked with many repair facilities, Matt recognized that customer service, transparency, and honesty were what set this shop apart. Those same values continue to guide his leadership today.
Under Matt’s ownership, the team has expanded its services, technical capabilities, and certifications while remaining committed to personalized customer care. In 2023, that commitment extended to Columbus with the acquisition of Eldon’s Automotive and Eurotech Auto Service, which had served the community since 1991. The expansion brought together two established local automotive traditions under a shared focus on quality service and long-term customer relationships.
Community involvement remains an important part of the business today. From supporting local organizations to helping customers understand and prioritize their vehicle needs, the team believes trust is built through consistent actions. “Because You Can’t Buy Trust” is more than a motto; it reflects a commitment to integrity, clear communication, and taking care of customers at every visit.
